Resident Engineer

About the Role

Our client is a global automotive technology supplier specialising in in-vehicle wireless charging and connected device integration solutions. Based in the United States and part of a wider international group, they partner with leading OEMs across the automotive industry. They are looking for a Resident Engineer to oversee the development, integration, and validation of in-vehicle wireless charging systems for mobile devices. The successful candidate will serve as the primary technical liaison between internal engineering teams, OEM customers, and suppliers — ensuring seamless communication and issue resolution across the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and manage all project development quality considerations throughout and following the development phase
  • Resolve software and hardware issues and communicate effectively with customers to drive resolution
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for OEM customers and internal stakeholders
  • Manage OEM customer design requests, develop APQP documentation, and manage third-party solutions
  • Lead and support feature development, including multi-function developments where required
  • Manage development planning and milestone tracking across multiple feature workstreams
  • Support resolution of business, manufacturing, and technical challenges
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams including Validation, Manufacturing, Procurement, Sales, and Quality
  • Liaise with global headquarters and international engineering teams on programme matters
  • Release weekly development progress reports and maintain regular communication with customer engineering teams

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive electronics or wireless charging systems development
  • Familiarity with Qi wireless charging standards, automotive EMC/EMI requirements, and CAN communication protocols
  • Strong problem-solving skills with hands-on experience debugging hardware and software integration issues
  • Ability to work independently at a customer site and manage multiple technical tasks concurrently
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with OEMs, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Experience with automotive testing tools such as Vector CANoe, oscilloscopes, and thermal analysis tools (desirable)
  • Knowledge of automotive product development processes including APQP, DFMEA, and PPAP (preferred)
  • Background in wireless power transfer technologies and charging coil design (preferred)
  • Experience with automotive software environments such as MATLAB, Simulink, or C/C++ (preferred)
  • Tier 1 automotive supplier experience (preferred)
  • Flexibility to accommodate international meeting schedules across time zones
