Chinese startup claims breakthrough with EV battery that overcomes cold weather

According to Huang Xiangdong, co-founder and chairman of Greater Bay Technology, a Chinese battery startup, their latest product: Phoenix cell, could address one of the major concerns among EV owners, the reduction in power capability and range during extremely cold weather. What sets it apart is its utilization of superconducting materials along with thermal management technology which enables quick heating capabilities from -4F to 77 F within five minutes ensuring optimal performance for lithium-ion batteries even under extreme climatic conditions. Additionally, this revolutionary innovation can fully charge such batteries in just six minutes despite the prevailing weather conditions. According to Huang, the range of EVs in cold areas has a significant impact, resulting in an unpleasant user experience. However, he further added that Phoenix’s battery tackles not only lengthy charging times for EVs but also other common concerns about driving electric cars regardless if it’s hot or cold outside- ensuring steady performance. In 2020 Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. spurned this start-up which is still new to China’s thriving battery-making industry; some of its existing rivals include major players such as Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited, BYD and GOTION HIGH-TECH – all working towards developing batteries capable of enhancing safety levels while enabling faster recharging times and more durable mileage ranges on Electric Vehicles. #technology #innovation #startup #batterytechnology #electricvehicles #automotiverecruitment   Source: https://www.autonews.com/suppliers/how-ev-battery-performs-better-during-cold-weather
