General Motors, Samsung Electronics win tax breaks for proposed $3.5B battery plant in Indiana
According to officials, General Motors seems to be progressing with its proposal for the construction of an electric vehicle battery factory in northern Indiana.
The automobile manufacturer has presented a plan that entails investing $3.5 billion in their fourth U.S. battery plant.
As per the development agreement filed with St. Joseph County, the facility near New Carlisle, Ind. would create approximately 1,600 permanent jobs by 2027 and offer workers an hourly wage averaging at around $24.
The project was approved after county authorities sanctioned a development agreement along with tax reduction for GM.
