Overview of this Role
Our client is seeking a Body Closures Design Engineer to join their growing team. This role will focus on the end-to-end design and development of closure systems such as doors, hoods, decklids, and sealing systems. From initial concepts to production-ready solutions, this position plays a key role in delivering weight-efficient, high-performance closure designs across global vehicle programmes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of system integration, manufacturing feasibility, and CAE-driven design optimisation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of lightweight closure systems from concept to production
- Perform packaging studies, develop designs using CATIA V5, and release components through Team Center
- Apply expertise in materials, joining technologies, and manufacturing processes (e.g., sheet metal forming, roll forming, casting)
- Use DFMEA and DVP&R to guide design and validation activities
- Coordinate CAE and testing plans to meet performance targets (NVH, crash, durability)
- Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers across India, Europe, and the USA
- Drive design improvements based on CAE feedback and engineering analysis
- Own BOM management and support engineering change control
- Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with flexibility for late-stage design changes
Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in automotive body engineering, specifically closure systems
- Proficiency in CATIA V5, Team Center, and DFMEA
- Strong understanding of CAE tools and manufacturing feasibility
- Ability to lead design activities and coordinate cross-functional teams
- Hands-on experience in vehicle launch and working with international suppliers
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred
- Strong time management, organisation, and communication skills
- Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally
