Powering the Green Shift: European Investment Bank (EIB) Invests in AESC's Gigafactory

EIB is set to invest in AESC’s upcoming Gigafactory in France, with a commitment of 337.2 million euros in direct loans and an additional 112.8 million euros in indirect bonds through commercial banks.

This gigafactory, located in Douai, France, marks the beginning of a transformative journey.

In its initial phase, it will produce nine gigawatt hours of battery capacity annually, with a grand vision of scaling up to an impressive 30 gigawatt hours by 2030, aligning with Europe’s ambitions for environmentally friendly mobility.

The project, requiring a total investment of 1.3 billion euros in its first phase, is not only an investment in technology but in people.

It’s expected to create approximately 1,200 direct jobs in the next three years, with the potential to grow to 3,000 by 2030.

Renault Group’s future electric models will be among the beneficiaries of these batteries.

Furthermore, the gigafactory’s planned expansions aim to supply batteries to a broader spectrum of automotive and industrial companies.
