EV Battery Plant

Stellantis and Samsung SDI has chosen Indiana as the location for their second joint EV battery plant!

The $3.2 billion StarPlus Energy JV plant is set to be co-located in Kokomo, Indiana, alongside their first battery plant.

This visionary collaboration is expected to generate 1,400 new jobs and commence production in 2027.

They are set to achieve an annual production capacity of 67 gigawatt hours at the Indiana facility.

Mark Stewart, Stellantis North America COO, expressed their dedication to carbon net zero by 2038, saying, “Our battery ecosystem is the foundation of our electrification strategy.”

This partnership with Samsung SDI, the State of Indiana, and the City of Kokomo is a critical step towards a greener future.

Samsung SDI’s CEO, Yoon-ho Choi, believes this plant will be the cornerstone for their North American EV battery production.

He’s confident that “Stellantis brand vehicles powered by Samsung SDI batteries featuring supreme technologies” will accelerate the U.S. transition to an era of electric vehicles.
