Svolt Energy Technology & BMW Group Join Forces

Svolt Energy is set to supply BMW with a whopping 90 gigawatt-hours of cutting-edge battery capacity in a deal estimated at $13 billion.

These batteries, set to power BMW vehicles starting in 2027, will feature Svolt Energy’s innovative short-blade cell technology, offering a game-changing cell-to-pack (CTP) design.

While neither company has officially confirmed the deal, it’s seen as a significant strategic move towards BMW’s ambitious target of 160 gigawatt-hours in battery capacity for this year.

This could mean that existing partners CATL and Eve Energy alone might not suffice, considering the burgeoning demand for EVs.

Contemporary Amperex Technology and Eve Energy are already hard at work building battery factories in Hungary alongside BMW’s new vehicle plant for the New Class.
